Mian Lodalen's novel was published in 2020 and the author based her story on historical research about the living conditions of LGBT people in Sweden more than 100 years ago.
Lina Betnér and Bianca Delbravo star in the film. Delbravo had her big breakthrough in the Guldbagge Award-winning film "Paradiset brinner" in 2023.
"Lisa and Lilly" is directed by Julia Lindström, who is making her feature debut. She has previously directed episodes of the television series "Young Royals" and "Skiftet" on Netflix.
The film begins shooting in August, with a planned theatrical release in the fall of 2027.
