Mia Skäringer is tired of hiding behind her roles. Now she wants to invite the public to a self-examination instead.

It's like emptying the backpack my female soul carries, she says about the new solo show "Mia, myself and I - the last supper".

It's a journey into my head, and I've been doing that for a long time, but this time I'm going a little further. Now I'm exposing more of my own ugly sides, she says, adding:

You don't have much to lose anymore and then you also become braver.

Identity crisis

With the show, Mia Skäringer invites the audience to a 50th birthday party with herself and cellist Linnea Olsson as hosts.

Are you having a midlife crisis?

I don't know, I think I've been in crisis most of the time. I'm strong in the morning and have crises in the afternoon. For me, life has always been up and down. That's why I have a hard time deciding whether it's a midlife crisis, ADHD or something else.

However, Mia Skäringer believes that passing 50 can trigger an identity crisis when the children move out and you suddenly have more time for yourself.

Who am I when I no longer have to solve everyone else's problems in this communications center? Should I start playing "Block Blast" or sit with a cup of coffee and just stare? I have no idea!

The title of your new show is "... the last supper". Is it a financial statement?

It's definitely a nod to the fact that this will probably be my last performance. I struggle with chronic brain fatigue and pain, and it takes a toll on me both physically and mentally. That's why I'm doing a slightly more intimate performance this time.

Male chaos

In the Bible, Jesus is betrayed during the Last Supper. Who is your Judas?

I am my own Judas. The more wine I drink tonight, the more I reveal my sub-personalities, my double standards. Especially Tabitha, who is the part of me that refuses to shut up! She not only teaches old men and pigs a lesson, but also me when I flit away.

“Hail Mary…” and “... as holy as can be.” The titles of your works often contain biblical references. Are you religious?

I like religious themes, but I wouldn't say I believe in God. At least not God as an old man in the sky, but more as a force that exists within all of us.

However, I have thought a lot about what Stagnelius wrote about “Chaos is God's neighbor.” I don't think that's really true, because it's only men's chaos that has always been God's neighbor.
