It is a commissioned work for the annual BBC Proms concert series in the British capital.
"Helix" will be performed on August 16 by the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, with Martin Fröst as soloist and conductor. The work is part of a concert that "traces the rhythmic building blocks of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony backwards through Bach, Rameau and Handel, and forwards to contemporary electronic dance music."
"I have always searched for some kind of origin or core in music," says Jacob Mühlrad in a press release.
“In Helix, I seek it through raga and klezmer, spiritual dance music rooted in centuries of tradition.”
