Åge Hareide died on December 18 after a long battle with illness. Before Malmö FF's Europa League match against Red Star, which ended in a 0–1 loss, the home fans paid tribute to the former coach with a tifo.

Under the stands at Eleda Stadium a banner read: "You gave us the faith. You showed us the way. Rest in peace, Åge". Above it was a large portrait of the coach. In addition, the MFF supporters shouted "Åge" and those in the seats responded "Hareide" - and a minute of silence followed.

Malmö - already eliminated in the Europa League - got off to a tough start, trailed after just over a quarter of an hour and lost the home match.

Åge Hareide turned 72. He led Malmö FF to a Swedish championship title and two group-stage appearances in the Champions League.
