Letting animals predict the results of the World Cup is nothing new. In Mexico, two elephants have now been asked to predict the outcome of the opening match - and the answer was clear.
On a makeshift soccer field, both elephants chose to eat the grass next to the Mexican flag and ignored the side with the South African flag.
The plan is for the animals to predict more matches that will be played, says elephant keeper Ivan Reynoso.
Now it remains to be seen whether the Mexican elephants have the same predictive ability as Paul the octopus. In the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the aquatic animal from Oberhausen correctly predicted the winner in all eight of Germany's matches.
