The lawsuit has already been filed, says President Claudia Sheinbaum at a press conference on Friday.

The name change was one of the first orders signed by Donald Trump when he took office as President of the USA on January 20. Google changed the name in its mapping service for users in the USA at the beginning of February.

Sheinbaum responded that the order can only apply to the part of the gulf that lies within American territorial waters and the American economic zone. She has threatened with a lawsuit if Google does not restore the name for the remaining approximately 50% of the gulf that Mexico and Cuba claim.

The announcement of the lawsuit comes after the American Congress on Thursday, with figures 211 against 206, voted to approve Trump's presidential order on the name change.

All Democrats and one Republican, Don Bacon from Nebraska, voted no. Next, the Senate will take a stand. There, the Republicans also have a majority.

This week, anonymous sources told the news agency AP that Donald Trump has another name change in sight: the Persian Gulf will become the Arabian Gulf.
