The insult translates to "male prostitute" in Swedish and could be heard towards the end of the first half when Czech goalkeeper Matej Kovar was about to take a goal kick.
The chant has cost Mexico hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines from FIFA. It became popular about 25 years ago and is mainly used to try to disrupt goalkeepers when taking kicks.
The chant received significant international attention during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and was also heard during the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Despite attempts by the Mexican Football Federation to stop it, the chant has continued to occur.
