Despite the United States' softer tone recently, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen does not believe that the crisis surrounding Greenland is over.

President Donald Trump still wants the United States to take control of the island, according to Frederiksen.

"I think the wish of the US president is exactly the same," she says at a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference.

"The Kingdom does not agree with that. Europe does not agree with that. But we agree that more must be done for security in the Arctic," the Prime Minister continues.

The statement comes after Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Fredrik Nielsen had what was described as a "constructive" meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday.
