The Social Democrats, Socialist People's Party, Radikale Venstre and Moderates have agreed on a basis for forming a coalition government, King Frederik X announced in an official statement.
"A lot has been very difficult in the negotiations," said a relieved Frederiksen (S) after her fifteen-minute conversation with the king.
"We live in the best country in the world with one of the world's strongest democracies. If we politicians hadn't succeeded in this, I don't know what the Danes would think of us," she said, according to TV2 and DR, emphasizing that despite nearly ten weeks of negotiations it "of course" wouldn't go as far as a new election.
On Monday evening, Frederiksen did not want to give any details about what the future government would look like, and she referred to Tuesday's government presentation.
"I think everyone will be surprised by how much we want. It is a government document that is good for both those living in Denmark today and for future generations, and for the animals," she said.
