Meteorological summer begins when the average daily temperature reaches 10 degrees Celsius or higher for at least five consecutive days. According to SMHI's records, this has now occurred in Östergötland, Västergötland, Småland, large parts of Gotland and Skåne.
The little heat wave we had turned into summer, says Maria Svedstig.
Those parts that haven't had summer yet will have to wait, as temperatures are now expected to return to more normal levels in the near future.
As far as the seasons go, the cards are already laid.
The seasons don't reverse. Even if it gets cold again, it's still summer once it has started, says Maria Svedstig.
On Gotland, it is both spring and summer at the same time. This is because westerly winds bring cold air from the sea. The same applies to northernmost Skåne and northwards, where it is still spring.
It will also remain dry. In Norrbotten there is some snow and rain, but otherwise this week looks to be without precipitation.
It is still winter in the Lapland mountains.
But it will probably be spring very soon, says Maria Svedstig.
