Since last week, a high pressure ridge has taken root in southern Sweden with sunny weather and temperatures up to 10 degrees Celsius in places.
Now all of Götaland and eastern Svealand have entered meteorological spring, as the average daily temperature has remained above 0°C for seven days in a row.
Today, a fairly large part of the country has entered spring, says Anna Belking, meteorologist at SMHI.
With the heat comes another early sign of spring, namely grass fire warnings. On Wednesday, SMHI issued warnings in large parts of Götaland and eastern Svealand.
When the snow melts, last year's dry grass remains and can start to burn.
It is very flammable, and with even a little wind there is a risk it can spread easily, says Anna Belking.
The warning will remain in effect through Thursday in parts of Götaland and southern Svealand, although the situation looks somewhat better as the wind subsides.
When spring arrives further north remains to be seen. According to Anna Belking, the warmer weather looks set to persist with temperatures above 0°C in most parts of the country.
The milder air is advancing north and will persist until the weekend. After that, it is a little less clear what next week will look like, says Anna Belking.
