It was on Wednesday that the large main stage at Tomorrowland in Belgium burned down after two weeks of construction.
But on Friday, with only a two-hour delay, the festival kicked off despite this.
In front of a large pile of debris, among other things, Swedish DJ star Axwell performed on a 70 meter long stage that 200 people had helped to hastily build.
Parts of the stage itself come from the hard rock band Metallica. The stage parts have been stored in Austria since the former Worldwired tour ended in 2019 but were flown to Belgium, reports Stereogum.
It was a battle against the clock. We built the stage in 36 hours, says the festival's spokesperson Debby Wilmsen according to Belgian HLN.
”Enormous love and a big thank you to the fantastic Tomorrowland team that delivers miracles – and to Metallica who delivers parts to the stage”, writes DJ Martin Garrix on Instagram.
