Meta plans to start production of its own AI chip in September, Reuters reports

The aim is to increase Meta's server capacity to 14 gigawatts by 2027, according to the document.

Meta's stock is down 2.5 percent in futures trading ahead of Wall Street's opening on Thursday after the news.

According to the news agency, tests of the AI chip have been ongoing for six weeks and have not revealed any major issues. The chip design was done in collaboration with Broadcom, while TSMC has contributed to the production process.

Meta, which expects to invest $145 billion in AI infrastructure by 2026, has not commented on the report.
