Meta is reorganizing ahead of layoffs, reassigning 7,000 employees to AI

Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, is investing heavily in AI, like many of its industry peers. According to an internal document seen by Bloomberg, 7,000 employees will now be given new positions focused on developing AI products.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has previously chosen to redirect resources and personnel specifically towards AI development.

At the same time, Meta is expected to lay off ten percent of its employees - approximately 8,000 people - starting on Wednesday, which the company announced about a month ago.
