Meta posted strong numbers across many metrics, but it raised its investment forecast, which the market took badly. On Thursday, the stock was down 9.2 percent so far.
Alphabet moved in the opposite direction, up 5.8 percent. The company's report on Wednesday evening was better than expected in terms of earnings per share and revenue - particularly for cloud services.
