The 37-year-old superstar missed the latest national team gathering in March because of an injury – when Argentina was to play crucial matches in their pursuit of securing a World Championship spot.
However, they managed well without Messi when they beat Uruguay and Brazil, respectively, and thereby secured a ticket to the championship in the USA, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.
Argentina will meet Chile and Colombia in the two remaining World Championship qualifying matches – before Messi then returns to his club team Inter Miami for play in the club World Championship.
