Argentina are through to the quarter-finals of the South American Championship after a 1–0 win over Chile.

Messi played with a thigh injury and a fever.

Not as easy as it should have been, says the superstar.

Argentina won their first group stage match against Canada 2–0, and after defeating Chile 1–0 in their second match, the reigning champions are through to the quarter-finals after just two rounds.

Lionel Messi, who assisted with a corner that led to Argentina's goal, reveals that he played injured.

I felt discomfort in my right thigh muscle at the start of the match. It was a bit tight and not as easy as it should have been. I still managed to finish the match, says Messi, but then gives worrying news for the Argentine supporters.

We'll see how it goes from here.

Not only did the superstar play injured, but he also reveals that he didn't feel fully fit.

The 37-year-old says that he has had a sore throat and fever in the days leading up to the match.

In Argentina's final group stage match, the World Champions face Peru. The team is already through, and has a good chance of winning the group. A single point will suffice, and it may be enough regardless of whether second-placed Canada beats Chile.
