Last season, Inter Miami was shockingly eliminated in the first round, but now Argentine Lionel Messi led his team to the title in the MLS playoffs.
In the final they faced Canadian Vancouver and the match was a long and drawn out affair.
But with the score tied at 1–1, the big star of the pitch stepped forward. Messi broke forward twice and served his Argentine friends Rodrigo de Paul and Tadeo Allende with two perfect deep passes to each free position. The final score was 3–1.
The 38-year-old star scored a total of fifteen playoff points (six goals and nine assists), which is a new MLS record, according to news agency NTB.
The team features other stars such as Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. The team is coached by another old Argentine great, Javier Mascherano.
