Superstar Lionel Messi extends his contract with Inter Miami in the American football league MLS.
On Thursday, Inter Miami and Messi announced that they have agreed on a three-year contract – until December 2028. This means that he will remain loyal to the club until he is 41 years old.
"It really makes me happy to stay here and continue with this project. Since I came to Miami, I have been very happy, so I am really happy to be able to continue here", says Messi in a statement.
Messi has been named the world's best football player eight times. After successful years in Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, he moved to the USA two years ago to play with Inter Miami. This season, the star is credited with 29 goals and 16 assists in 28 league matches.
Three years ago, Messi and his Argentina won the World Championship gold in Qatar.
