Rytting Kaneryd, an attacking forward, was needed in Tuesday's World Cup qualifying match against Denmark in Gothenburg, where Sweden fell 1-2 despite plenty of scoring chances.
Now the 29-year-old's calf problem is starting to settle down, and she is available to play in Saturday's match against Serbia in Solna.
"She trained hard today," said women's football team captain Tony Gustavsson after Friday's training.
He hopes the Chelsea forward can play, but if so, she will be a substitute after the break.
"It is unlikely she will start, given the limited training she has had."
