The US entered a war with Iran "without any strategy whatsoever" and it is therefore now difficult to find a way out of the conflict, Merz emphasizes in a panel discussion with students at a school in Marsberg in western Germany.
Especially since the Iranians are apparently very skilled at negotiating. Or rather, very skilled at not negotiating, says Merz, adding:
An entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership.
Merz hopes for an end to the war as soon as possible, but describes the situation as "quite complicated."
It's costing us a lot of money. This conflict, this war against Iran, has a direct impact on our economic development.
