The decision was made by the Personnel Responsibility Board (Pan), and Nyberg was reportedly informed on Friday.
"I have worked as a police officer for much of my adult life and carried the mission with pride. Regardless of Pan's decision, it does not change my respect for the police profession," she wrote in a message to Polistidningen.
Nyberg is charged with, among other things, drunk driving, drug offenses and aggravated driving after being stopped in a car in recent days. She admits to driving while intoxicated but denies the other charges. The trial will take place in September.
Katja Nyberg has left the Sweden Democrats and is now one of the so-called independents in the Riksdag.
