At just 18 years old, Jumatate is the youngest in Melodifestivalen 2026. But that doesn't mean she lacks experience performing on stage in front of a large audience.
When she participated in "Talang" at the age of 10, she moved Bianca Ingrosso to tears and received a standing ovation.
“Must back off”
In the third round of Melodifestivalen in Kristianstad this Saturday, Jumatate wants to show more of herself with a song that she co-wrote.
"Being involved in a song plays a very big role. You express yourself in a different way when it comes from yourself. Then you can also sing in a completely different way," she says.
The inspiration comes from her own life and “an incident” that occurred over a year ago.
Teenagers, and people in general, have a lot to do with friends, relationships and family. I'm a very loving person who gives a lot to others and kind of wants to work things out, but if other people just take from you, eventually you have to back down.
More excited than nervous
The message about being "Selfish" in this context is not about being selfish in a negative sense.
In this case, it means that you put yourself first and don't let others who don't deserve you take up too much space.
When asked if she feels nervous, Jumatate says she is mostly excited and that the third round of Melodifestivalen being held in Kristianstad has calmed her nerves considerably.
I'm so happy and it couldn't have been better. I don't know how to describe it. I know I'll have a lot of teachers, friends and family there.
