Daniil Medvedev is clear for the quarterfinals in Wimbledon.

The world number five stood as the winner after Grigor Dimitrov was forced to withdraw with an injury.

The match was interrupted in the first set at 5–3 in favor of Medvedev.

It's a shame because we usually have good and even matches between us, and I was looking forward to playing against him on grass, says Medvedev in the post-match interview.

Dimitrov slipped after a shot and began to limp noticeably after that.

The world number three took a medical timeout and then tried to play again, but was soon forced to abandon the match due to continued pain. Dimitrov clutched his left leg as he limped off the court.

Now the Olympics may be in danger for the Bulgarian, depending on how serious the injury is.

It's very sad, hopefully it's not serious for him. There's not much to say about today's match, says Medvedev.

Medvedev is now waiting for a quarterfinal against world number one Jannik Sinner, who earlier on Sunday won in three straight sets against American Ben Shelton.

I think he (Sinner) has beaten me five times, so I have to play my best tennis, says Medvedev.

Carlos Alcaraz is also through to the quarterfinals after his eighth-final win against Frenchman Ugo Humbert.

On the women's side, world number seven Jasmine Paolini has advanced after also winning since Madison Keys withdrew.
