Rekik, who makes up one half of the duo Medina, was forced to take a break due to physical and mental exhaustion.
But Medina's competition in the third round of Melodifestivalen on Saturday is not threatened, according to the duo's press contact Petra Åkesson:
"He is on track and more ready than ever to take on Melodifestivalen round 3 together with Ali," she writes in an email to Expressen.
Medina is competing with the entry "Viva l'amor".
