Cross-country skiers receive bonus money for winning a medal at the Olympics. Other skiers receive nothing.

A gold medal earns 200,000 kronor, a silver 60,000, and a bronze 30,000.

However, the medal bonuses are paid by the cross-country skiing federation, not the Swedish Olympic Committee or the Swedish Ski Association. Therefore, only the cross-country skiers will earn bonus money for an Olympic medal.

It is clear that we all would have liked to receive a bonus, ski cross racer and gold medalist Sandra Näslund told Expressen.

But that's not how things are. You just have to accept it.

At the World Cross-Country Championships in Trondheim in 2025, Sweden won ten medals. A similar success could be costly for Swedish cross-country skiing.

We have full coverage in the budget, whatever the outcome, senior manager Lars Öberg told the newspaper.
