The first three cases linked to the festival, which ran from July 30 to August 1, were reported in mid-August. The total later rose to 40 cases, 28 of which involved transmission at the festival.

Contact tracing showed that the outbreak originated with someone who had been infected abroad.

"The regions and infection control units have put a lot of work into contact tracing and vaccination," state epidemiologist Anders Johansson says in a press release.

The Public Health Agency of Sweden now says the outbreak is over, as sufficient incubation periods have passed. No new cases have been reported since the beginning of September.

Most measles cases were among school-age children and young adults.
