McIlroy Stays Silent, Wins Masters to Complete Career Grand Slam

Rory McIlroy didn't say a word to playing partner Bryson DeChambeau during the final round of the US Masters at the Augusta National golf course. He refused to talk to me. He was just completely focused, I suppose. It wasn't about me, says DeChambeau.

Before the final round, the American was second, two strokes behind the Northern Irishman, and the duo thus went into the lead ball on Sunday. Rory McIlroy, who ultimately won the tournament after a playoff with Englishman Justin Rose, has said that he was so nervous before the final 18 holes that he had to force himself to eat.

In response to a question about how McIlroy felt on the course, Bryson DeChambeau answers.

No idea. He didn't talk to me at all during the whole day.

The victory in the Masters meant that the 35-year-old McIlroy became the sixth male player to complete a career "grand slam" – winning all four major tournaments, majors.

DeChambeau fell from second to sixth place during the final round. Swedish hope Ludvig Åberg finished seventh.
