McDonald's revenue of $7.1 billion was in line with analysts' expectations, according to a Bloomberg compilation of forecasts.

At the same time, earnings of $3.38 per share were slightly higher than the expected $3.32 per share.

In connection with the report, the company announced that it is changing the head of its U.S. operations.

“While our strategy is working well around the world, we see an opportunity to raise the bar in the US and accelerate development in our largest market,” CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a statement.

In pre-market trading on the New York Stock Exchange, the stock rose 1 percent ahead of the market open at 3:30 p.m.
