Kylian Mbappe was barely visible during the first half of the match between France and Senegal.
But it was the 27-year-old who stepped up to break the deadlock. Mbappe intercepted a deep ball from Michael Olise and rolled the ball in to make it 1-0.
He celebrated with a somewhat odd gesture, an air flute. Before the tournament, Mbappe appeared on British presenter James Corden's World Cup program on Fox. There, he said he had played the flute at school. As a tribute to that short musical career, he said he would make the flute gesture after his first World Cup goal.
France won 3-1, with another goal by Kylian Mbappe among the scorers.
