France's attacking star Kylian Mbappé will miss the rest of the group stage in the European Championship, according to French Le Figaro.
Mbappé broke his nose in yesterday's premiere against Austria.
The reports that France will have to do without Mbappé in the upcoming matches against the Netherlands and Poland are not yet officially confirmed.
Mbappé injured himself when he crashed his face into Kevin Danso's shoulder in a heading duel in Austria's penalty area.
The 25-year-old collapsed and TV images showed him bleeding profusely from the nose.
Apparently, Kylian's nose is broken, that's the downside of this evening. It's very frustrating for us, said France's national team coach Didier Deschamps to French TV channel TF1 after the 1–0 win.
During the night and morning, reports emerged that Mbappé would play with a mask from now on.
He himself went out on X, formerly Twitter, with a question about what design he should have on the mask.
"Any ideas for masks?", Mbappé joked in a post.
Later, Le Figaro came with unconfirmed reports that Mbappé, who recently left Paris SG for Real Madrid, would not play in the two remaining group stage matches.
France will meet the Netherlands on Midsummer Eve and Poland at the beginning of next week.
