With just minutes left in the match, Mbappé himself signaled that he wanted to be substituted. The striker was then able to leave the field of his own accord.
On Monday, Real Madrid announced that the French football star had suffered a muscle injury to the back of his left thigh.
"His recovery will be monitored," the club wrote in a statement on its website.
It is still unclear how long Mbappé will be out of action. However, according to Marca, there is hope that he will be back for the prestigious El Clásico against Barcelona on May 10.
The capital club is currently eleven points behind league leaders Barcelona in the Spanish league table.
