France's national team captain Didier Deschamps, who has been in charge of "Les Bleus" since 2012, did not lead the team in the final group match against Norway (4-1) because he was home in France for his mother's funeral.
In Tuesday's World Cup round of 32 against Sweden, Deschamps was back. After Kylian Mbappé scored his first goal of the match, he ran down to Deschamps and hugged him, followed by the rest of the team.
"It's just this group. It's the DNA of the group. We're all together. We know the coach has been through something difficult. Unfortunately, everyone will experience it, and it's difficult," Mbappé said in the match interview according to TV4.
