I've said that there won't be any more. Regardless of how it goes. That's my bid right now, says Mauri Hermundsson when asked if the travel program will get a second season.
I think none of us can handle it, agrees Per Morberg.
TV4's "Mauri and Morberg – on a small journey" is not a program where two best friends travel around and enjoy life. Instead, YouTube profile Mauri Hermundsson and actor, as well as TV chef, Per Morberg often end up in conflict. Especially when Hermundsson tries to direct Morberg's showy side.
We've both had a hard time understanding why we just get angry and irritated with each other. So this program is in some ways a journey into the darkest depths, says Mauri Hermundsson.
"I lost it"
Hermundsson is behind the program's various pranks, while Morberg "just tagged along and complained" to countries such as Japan, Ireland, and Iceland. In Argentina, a lot went wrong when the self-critical Morberg was supposed to cook a pepper steak after a 16-hour workday when nothing was rigged.
That's when I lost it, says Morberg.
The duo remembers that the entire project was on the verge of collapsing right there and then, but during the interview in Stockholm, they are friendly and switch between playful teasing and compliments.
Can't remember Mauri's name
We actually have a good time together. Mauri is so clever, intuitive, charming, and has a funny sense of humor, but as soon as the cameras start rolling, something happens, says Per Morberg, who mispronounces Mauri Hermundsson's name many times during the interview. Among other things, as "Maurio".
It's not many people you can travel with around the world for so many weeks without learning their name, says Hermundsson, who means that the mispronunciation is a recurring dominance technique. Something Morberg denies.
I've had leading roles in feature films and often been on set for two months, but I still can't remember the A-photographer's full name. So I have a deficiency there. Plus, Mauri is so damn hard to remember.
But you're also quite affectionate. You hold hands and kiss sometimes?
Yes, but I feel that it becomes so cheesy that you're actually masturbating in your own relationship and in the TV medium and the whole ballet. Then we're forced to do these kinds of silly things, says Morberg and imitates vomiting.
