Matts Arnberg receives the award “for brilliant, sensitive and traditional playing of songs from Dala-Floda”, according to the citation. He fell in love with the violin at an early age and learned folk music by ear. He studied classical violin at the Royal College of Music and retired after almost 40 years in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Verf Lena Egardt is praised "for her masterful, sonorous and traditional playing of songs from Älvdalen". She began playing the violin at the age of 11 and became a national fiddler at the age of 19. She trained as a violin teacher at the Royal College of Music and retired after 43 years as a music teacher.

The Zornmärket in gold is given to particularly prominent tradition bearers within Swedish folk music and is awarded by the Zornmärket Committee of the Swedish Folk Dance Association.
