54-year-old Sjöholm is leaving his job as national team coach after four years in the position. During that period, he has led Sweden to three World Cup gold medals out of a possible three.
"It feels like the right time for someone new to take over this honorable assignment," said Mattias Sjöholm in a press release.
Sjöholm has already secured a new coaching job. He has signed a two-year contract with Hammarby, the elite-league club announced on its website.
The Swedish Bandy Association has begun the process of finding a replacement.
