Eight engravings by French artist Henri Matisse have been recovered after an art heist from a library in São Paulo last year. Police have now found the works in a home in São Bernardo, and the man who had them has been arrested.

During the theft, the perpetrators overpowered a security guard and an elderly couple visiting the Mário de Andrade Library. They made their way to a glass dome where the artworks were stored and made off with the works. Five works by Brazilian artist Candido Portinari were also stolen, but they have not yet been found.

Police say the theft was carried out by a well-organized gang that steals and sells art on the black market. A man suspected of being the mastermind behind the heist was arrested in April, and a woman has also been arrested.
