Norway's shock: The Norwegians were on course for a huge shock against tournament favourite Canada in their last World Championship match. Norway led 5–4 with less than two minutes left before the Canadians equalized and then won in overtime. With a total of seven points, Norway is heavily involved in the fight for a quarter-final spot.

History: Sweden has faced Norway 22 times in World Championship and Olympic contexts since 1950. It has ended with 20 wins for Sweden, one draw and one loss after extra time and penalties. The only loss (4–5) came in the opener in Košice in 2011. Tre Kronor eventually reached the final of the championship in Slovakia (losing to Finland). Sweden won the last meeting against Norway 7–1 in the World Championship group stage in 2022.

Top-scoring teenager: 18-year-old Tinus Luc Koblar is Norway's top scorer so far with three goals and two assists in four games. Last season, the center accounted for 14 points for Leksand, who eventually left the SHL. On Friday, it was announced that Tinus Luc Koblar will continue his career with SM finalist Rögle.

Norway's matches so far: Slovakia 1–2, Slovenia 4–0, Italy 4–0, Canada 5–6 after extra time.

Sweden's game schedule: After the match against Norway, Tre Kronor will have two days off before Slovakia awaits in the group stage on Tuesday.

Squad closed: There will be no more NHL reinforcements. On Friday, defenseman Tim Heed and third goalie Love Härenstam were added to the squad, meaning that national team captain Sam Hallam has registered the maximum of 25 players.
