"Our military continues to actively defend" certain areas "in the regions of Kursk and Belgorod", writes Zelenskyj on Telegram and adds that the situation remains difficult in many areas, including Kursk.

Moscow patted itself on the back on Saturday, claiming that the Kursk region had been recaptured from Ukrainian forces. Ukraine's military leadership already denied defeat back then.

Kyiv reported earlier on Sunday that nearly 150 Russian drones had been fired at several Ukrainian regions during the night.

One person was killed in the attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Three more people are reported to have died in an air raid in the Donetsk region.

Ukraine's air force claims that 57 of the drones were shot down and 67 blocked.

The Russian attacks come after US President Donald Trump expressed doubts in recent days about whether Russia's Vladimir Putin wants peace.

"There was no reason for Putin to shoot missiles into civilian areas, cities, and communities, in recent days. It makes me think that he may not want to stop the war, that he's just playing with me", Trump writes on his platform Truth Social.

US President Donald Trump and Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyj met yesterday at the Pope's funeral in Rome, the first meeting between the two leaders since February.

The work of trying to reach a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing for months.
