The incident occurred on the stretch between Vätterviksbadet and Alvastra, about a mile south of the start in Motala, where many cyclists were affected by punctures, which Motala Vadstena Tidning first reported.

It is about a stretch of around 30 kilometers.

Yes, I don't know exactly how many spikes there are, but there are enough for it to be able to cause many punctures in a short time, says Oskar Sundblad to TT.

The organizers were alerted to the matter around midnight. During the night, the road has been swept and warnings have been shouted to cyclists at the start. Stranded cyclists have been helped to continue.

If it is a case of sabotage or if the small spikes ended up there by accident, Sundblad does not want to speculate about it.

I don't want to fantasize about what, if it's a boy's mark or something else, but it seems like there are spikes on several different places along the track, he says.

The police are aware of the incident.

We are aware that it is said that some form of sabotage occurred, but I don't know yet how many reports there are, says Angelica Forsberg at the police to Aftonbladet.

A report of vandalism has been drawn up, the police write on their website. No one has been injured and those affected will report the incident, the police write further.

The 30-mile long cycling classic takes place on June 13-14. This year, approximately 17,200 cyclists are registered, according to the organizer.
