The measure is part of a broader effort in the region, where several countries are trying to stop the spread of what authorities in those regimes believe are rumors and material linked to Iran's attacks following US and Israeli military operations.
"109 people of various nationalities have been arrested after filming locations and spreading false information via social media during the ongoing events," Abu Dhabi Police wrote in a statement on X.
Qatar has also arrested over 300 people for similar crimes, and Bahrain and Kuwait have taken similar measures. Authorities warn that such content could influence public opinion and create unrest in society.
