"His solid experience is valuable in the work of providing children and young people with the treatment, security and care required to break a negative trend," said Minister of Social Services Camilla Waltersson in a press release.
Martin Valfridsson most recently served as head of the Office of the Chief of the National Police. He will take up his position as head of SIS on March 3.
The State Institutional Board conducts compulsory care and treatment of young people with serious psychosocial problems and adults with substance abuse problems.
