In a post on Instagram, which promotes Stenevi's upcoming book "Breathe. Survive." which is about the fall of 2023 when she was accused of lacking leadership, she writes:
"There is still so much I do not know. Who did wrong and what I was accused of. I do not know. But this is what I experienced and felt when everyone talked about me, and no one talked to me".
Stenevi writes further that the events of the fall of 2023 triggered both eating disorders and suicidal thoughts.
"It is my story about shame and despair that got my old eating disorder to spiral out of control. And about the suicidal thoughts. The ones I thought I had buried for many decades ago."
She also describes a culture of silence in the Green Party and that the situation for her eventually became unsustainable.
"I want to tell now, to break with the destructive culture of silence. I hope that my story will contribute to a discussion about work environment, leadership, and conflict management", says Märta Stenevi in a press release about the book.
Stenevi resigned as spokesperson for the Green Party in February last year after three years in the position. She has also been Minister for Gender Equality and Housing.
