29-year-old was operated on the day after the crash in Val Senales and is expected to be back on skis in four to six months.
Rehabilitation means that Marta Bassino, who has previously won World Championship gold in super-G and parallel giant slalom, will not make it back for the home Olympic Games Milano 2026.
Bassino's injury is not the first for the Italian alpine national team. Previously, Federica Brignone, reigning World Champion in giant slalom and last season's winner of the overall World Cup, is out due to a leg fracture. The 35-year-old is expected to be back in competition in January - which means she only has a few weeks to prepare for the Olympic Games.
The Olympic Games in Milano and Cortina will take place from 6-22 February.
