The trend is also clear in the bond market, where ten-year French yields have risen from 3.56 to 4.73 percent since the turn of the year. The gap between French and German ten-year yields has thus increased from 0.71 percentage points at the turn of the year to today's 1.11 percentage points.
The development has gained momentum after a series of opinion polls showing that far-right candidate Marine Le Pen would win both the first and second rounds of a French presidential election.
The first round of the next presidential election in France will be held on April 18, 2027. If no one gets a majority there, there will be a second round on May 2.
