Marika Domanski Lyfors Ready for European Championship Amid Cancer Battle

National team manager Marika Domanski Lyfors is ready for the European Football Championship - despite the cancer illness. If one can survive by love then I would have done it.

Marika Domanski Lyfors Ready for European Championship Amid Cancer Battle

Sweden's squad for the European Football Championship has been presented. Marika Domanski Lyfors was there at the time. This came after she had returned from her previous spring's cancer diagnosis that she had a malignant brain tumor.

The 65-year-old is receiving treatment but will not be completely healthy.

Domanski Lyfors was back in the latest Nations League gathering against Italy and Denmark.

It was fantastic to be back and I told the girls that I was coming from a long hospital stay and when I was with them I didn't think about my illness. That says something about living life and feeling very well when living with many people and the national team, says Domanski Lyfors and continues:

I love winning and getting to come back and see the national team win, like against Denmark, and doing it with that attitude is something few are fortunate enough to experience.

The national team manager praises the national team players and the federation for all the support during the illness.

The support has been fantastic. I always say that. There are no words to explain it, she says and tells more:

We had a meeting in March with all my old players when I was the national team manager. There were almost 60 players and it was so cool. They had arranged to meet at Fotografiska and have dinner and then we went out in the evening.

Sweden starts the European Championship final tournament on July 4 against Denmark.
