German Bundesliga team Union Berlin fired its coaching staff, led by head coach Steffen Baumgart, after just two wins in fourteen games.
It is now clear that Marie-Louise Eta will take over - she was previously coach of Union Berlin's U19 team, among other roles, the club writes on its website .
With the appointment, Germany's top league has gained its first female head coach.
"I am happy to have received the club's trust in this challenge. One of Union's strengths has always been that we gather strength in situations like this. I am of course convinced that we as a team will secure the important points that are required," she tells the site.
Eta will take over immediately and will lead the team until the end of the season. This summer, the idea is for her to take charge of Union Berlin's women's team.
