Mariah Carey rakes in huge sums of money from her smash hit "All I Want for Christmas." Millions of dollars in royalties flow into the star's account every year.

Despite being around for several decades, the immensely popular song is still an obvious element of the music that usually flows out during Christmas time.

Every year, Carey rakes in up to $3 million, equivalent to SEK 27.5 million, in royalties, writes The Independent, citing sources, including The Economist.

The song, which came out back in 1994, now also has a total of 2.4 billion plays on Spotify alone, which is a record for a Christmas song.

"All I Want for Christmas" also makes history as the song that has spent the longest at number one on the American Billboard Hot 100. It has managed to hold onto the top spot for a total of 21 weeks since its release, according to Billboard Magazine.
