Three Crowns' World Championship forward Marcus Johansson is staying in the NHL and with the club Minnesota.
The 34-year-old has extended his contract by one year, over the next season 2025-2026. The contract is worth approximately 7.6 million kronor.
Johansson was traded to Minnesota from Washington in 2023 and made 34 points, 11 goals and 23 assists, in 72 regular season matches. In the Stanley Cup playoffs, he played five matches and made two assists when Minnesota was eliminated in the first round against Vegas. Afterwards, he traveled to Stockholm and took the World Championship bronze on home ground.
Before the contract extension with Minnesota was clear, there had been speculations that Johansson would move back home to Sweden and play with Färjestad in the SHL.
