NHL stars Marcus Johansson and Hampus Lindholm will not play in tonight's Olympic opener for Tre Kronor, national team captain Sam Hallam announced.

"If it goes as I have in mind, it will be Marcus Johansson and Hampus Lindholm who are out of the squad," Hallam says, according to several media outlets on site during Sweden's match warm-up in Milan.

Center Johansson and defenseman Lindholm were called up to the Olympic squad as replacements for Leo Carlsson and Jonas Brodin, respectively, who are both injured.

If star forward William Nylander - who was in charge of Tuesday's practice - plays, Hallam says the following:

- "We'll see. I haven't had time to go into the locker room, so it's difficult to answer those questions before I've checked with the medical team," he tells Aftonbladet.

Tonight's match against Italy starts at 9:10 p.m.
